Although from time to time the Dutch Royal House gets a lot of criticism, particularly the appearance of the Argentinian Maxima Zorreguieta within the royal family took care of an increasing popularity of the House of Orange among the people.
Not the Happy Couple is the subject of this documentary, but on the contrary the 'ordinary people', of whom the majority was dressed up royal, just for one day: from various levels of the population and from different regions, young and old travelled to Amsterdam to celebrate this special day with the Royal Couple, nowadays the King and Queen of the Netherlands.
In some pictures there is a (tragi-) comic element, others show for instance solidarity, bored waiting, joy or an expectantly element.
